PROSTATE CANCER PREVENTION DIET

The following medicinal foods (about 80 percent of calories) are recommended because they have been implicated as cancer protectors:

Good carbohydrates (organic suggested) containing antioxidants, such as apples, avocados, bananas, beans, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, cherries, corn, cucumbers, grapes, mangoes, oranges, oregano, peaches, peanut butter, pears, peas, peppers, plums, strawberries (conventional not recommended), turmeric, walnuts, and zucchini.
Real grain such as old-fashioned oats (instant or 1 minute not recommended), barley, and wild rice.
Unprocessed vegetable oil containing right-ratio omega 9, 6, and 3 from organic first-press or extra virgin olive oil. Keep temperature below 420 degrees F in order to safely cook or bake using filtered first press.
Organic poultry, eggs (not dairy), peas, beans, nuts, and seeds (red meats and processed protein including deli meats, cheese, whey, and soy are not recommended).
Flounder, sole, salmon (wild or canned), shrimp (if cholesterol is not a problem), talapia, anchovies, and sardines as recommended in BRIGHTFOODS.
Lycopene-rich, low-sodium organic tomato sauce and juice (recipe below).
Filtered water; freshly brewed organic green, white, red, or black tea over ice with organic apple juice; and fresh carrot, grapefruit, or pineapple juice, or processed apple or tomato juice (Splenda, NutraSweet, Equal and other fake sugars are not recommended). The Magic Bullet Express blender/mixer at www.walmart.com is good for retaining the total fiber and nutrient value of fresh organic produce drinks. One of these drinks, plus a piece of minimally processed protein, is recommended above an over-processed protein shake.
Dark chocolate in moderation.
Chips, cupcakes, cake, pasta, bagels, English muffins, cookies, energy bars, and bread made from organic stone-ground, whole wheat, as found in most recipes in BRIGHTFOODS. This requires basic baking or fresh-pasta-making skills.
Some skim milk for coffee is ok, as well as BRIGHTFOODS cheese pizza and lean red meat once a week if you must.

A prostate cancer prevention lifestyle should couple the Prostate Cancer Prevention Diet with a good night’s sleep schedule (i.e. 11 p.m. until 7 a.m.); 40 minutes of aerobic exercise such as walking, tennis, or golf, five to seven times each week; plus a daily spiritual component, stress reducer, or immaterial enrichment such as meditation, prayer, yoga, fishing, reading, working a crossword puzzle, or seeing a movie.
